2018 Shedra Graduates (graduation celebration in Feb 2019)

Congratulations to the new graduates of the Thrangu Tara Abbey shedra, who completed the rigorous 12 year program of philosophical studies!

Here is a list of the 2018 graduates (graduation celebration took place in Feb 2019):

1. Nyedon Wangmo

2. Tsering Kalden

3. Karma Norlha

4. Nangsel Tsering

5. Karma Yangkyi

Thrangu Rinpoche established the shedra program at Tara Abbey in 2004, in order to give equal opportunity for nuns to train in higher Buddhist studies. Rinpoche has named the nuns' shedra Thrangu Thoisam Dargyeling.

The first group of nuns from this shedra program graduated in 2011. At that time the program required a total of 8 years to complete. However in 2013 HH Karmapa extended all shedra programs, so now the program takes 12 years to complete.

So far, there have been a total of 32 graduates from the Thrangu Thoisam Dargyeling shedra program:

2011 - 3 nuns

2012 - 5 nuns

2013 - 2 nuns

2015 - 7 nuns

2017 - 10 nuns

2018 - 5 nuns
